The food and vibe here are definitely old-skool healthy and delicious japanese food. it's not like all the other ramen restaurants popping up where the ingredients and broth are much heavier whereas at Asa, the masterful simplicity of the broth complimenting the toppings is something to be appreciated. The place is old, and smells a bit like cigarettes but I got used to it pretty quickly (I am very smell sensitive so I almost left but the man who I am guessing is the owner, came over and gave us little chips with our beer and he smiled and giggled a little. I instantly fell in love ️). Everything was delicious. Try it out!

JAPANExcerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles:One ramen spot just north of the on Western that serves sublime bowls is Asa Ramen, a place that intricately makes you feel like you have stepped back in time at least a couple decades. Even the cigarette smells wafting in from the connected karaoke/hostess cafe next door make it seem a long time ago. But what is better than five or ten years ago, at least from the customer's point of view, is that the weekend waiting lists are hardly a thing and the influencers (the new hipsters) have moved on.

Beside having great ramen, I think the one thing I like is the fact that they are open really late. I do watch late night movies at AMC Del Amo and getting a late dinner wouldn't be harder without restaurants that open late, so + to that! The place look old, but don't worry, It is clean. On to the food:I thought the ramen texture was pretty great! Not too soft, a little on the hard side. Therefore, if you like your ramen a little softer, you could perhaps let the waiter (there was only one guy serving everyone) know ahead of time.Salt ramen:Not too salty. It tasted like your typical (the great ones) salt ramen. However you don't feel heavy afterwards because it is not too oily. The meat given was kinda sad though. I thought there were very little meat in the ramen. Egg was great! But if you are looking forward to runny egg yolk then I am afraid you are out of luck.Curry ramen:This was great too! Smells really good and it definitely satisfies your curry craving!Kaarage:This was alright. Nothing extraordinary. They were kind of thick on the flour. You can give it a try nonetheless if you want some appetizers.Fried oyster:My girlfriend enjoyed them thoroughly! I didn't touch this because I am afraid of oysters !Overall, it was pretty great experience. I will definitely be back again!

Got off the plane late at LAX in the rain and this was the perfect bowl of ramen still open. I had the spicy special and my girlfriend had the curry. Both were very good and much better than most ramen we can get in Colorado. Prices were outstanding and I would definitely go back again. Staff was very quick but they had stopped cooking the octopus for the night. Thanks for a great meal.
